SureWest Internet has
made it possible for clients to access their website in a secure
mode using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). This allows security
to be added to your site immediately, without the added expense
of purchasing your own certificate.
How to use the Shared SSL certificate:
The above link will show the admin.hosting.surewest.net
website in secure mode (notice the "lock" icon in your
web browser). This means all communications between the web browser
and the server are encrypted. SSL is commonly used when accepting
credit card information, or when a web page contains information
you wish to keep confidential.
If you want to switch your website from normal to SSL mode, make
sure that you first link to it using the FULL URL PATH of the server.
Once you have switched, we recommend you use relative
urls. To switch from SSL back to normal, simply link to your
normal domain name again using the FULL URL PATH.
